THE TEXAS TIME TRIALS
The Texas Time Trials extends a warm, Texas-sized invitation to y'all. Ultra racers, randonneurs and riders wanting to test abilities against the clock, there’s an event for you. TTTT is actually five events in one. The Tejas 500 RAAM Qualifier, Texas 24-Hour Time Trial, Texas 12-Hour Time Trial, The 6-Hour Shoot-Out and the 20 mile Sprint. With the different start times, riders and teams finish about the same time for dinner and the Awards Bash Saturday evening. Plus, there’s the added benefit of injecting new riders onto the course, which adds to the excitement of each event and keeps riders already on the course fired-up.
500 solo miles sound too challenging? Try a four-person team. Teams always make a huge party out of this event! TTTT has become more than just a great internationally-known event; it’s a fun-filled ride and a reunion bringing RAAM legends, newbies, randonneurs and world-class Ultra racers together in a social setting to celebrate our ability and desire to ride. This is a great event for the seasoned racer or someone wanting to try their first race.
The course is a scenic and challenging 20-mile loop. Crews can hand off to their riders from the start-finish area each lap and this venue also allows riders to crew themselves from the trunk of their car. This start-finish is a fun place for your crew and/or resting riders to congregate and fosters a supportive social atmosphere. Riders, crews and teams are encouraged to pitch tents in the field under the large trees creating a tent city with a personality all its own. Don’t miss the free pancake breakfast Saturday morning and then the hot dawg buffet at our Awards Bash after the event. Bring the family for a fun-filled day at the races!
Races end in time for the Awards Bash…a fun place to meet other riders, eat and pick up trophies. With riders from most states in the USA and from other countries, the Awards Bash is also an unbelievable reunion (see past rider list on website) of old and new friends. Awards are abundant and worthy of your accomplishment. In fact, last year more than 130 trophies were awarded.
